January 26, 2022 marks two years since the tragic death of legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant.

Bryant is survived by his wife Vanessa Bryant and three of his children.

As fans celebrate the life of the late sports star, we’ve timed Vanessa Bryant’s dating history, detailing her longtime marriage to Kobe.

Vanessa Bryant’s dating history before Kobe

Given that Vanessa was still in high school when she met her future husband Kobe Bryant, little is known about her love life before she married the basketball star. Vanessa met Kobe in 1999, making him just 17.

It is believed that Vanessa may have had relationships in high school, but they never materialized into anything serious as she was still in her mid-teens.

Vanessa and Kobe’s relationship and marriage explored

Kobe and Vanessa first met while filming a music video in 1999, with Kobe kicking things off by asking his future wife for her number.

In a 2013 Instagram post celebrating their relationship, the late basketball player wrote, “This pic is the day I asked @ladyvb24 for her number 11/28/99. Through the ups and downs, she has been my love and my best friend. Aged 20 and 17 when we met, we actually grew up together. A true honor and blessing. Ti Amo Queen Mamba :-)”

After just six months of dating, Kobe popped the question and the couple got engaged when Vanessa turned 18. The two married in the spring of 2001, remaining married until Kobe’s tragic death.

During their marriage, the couple welcomed four children, the first being their now 19-year-old daughter Natalia in 2003. Vanessa then gave birth to children Gianna, Bianka and Capri.

In 2011, the couple shared their intention to separate after a decade of marriage. However, in 2013, the divorce was annulled. At the time, Vanessa Bryant explained on IG: “We are happy to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We look forward to our future together.

The two continued their marriage and in 2019 Kobe celebrated 20 years since he first met Vanessa. The sportsman shared: “On this day 20 years ago I met my best friend, my queen @vanessabryant, I decided to take her on a date at Disneyland tonight to celebrate the old-school style.”

Sadly, on January 26, 2020, Kobe, 41, and his second oldest daughter Gianna, 13, died in a helicopter crash.

As reported by E! in 2021, Vanessa is focused on healing and caring for her family after the heartbreaking death of her husband.

An insider at the outlet shared, “She’s not dating anyone and probably won’t be for a long time. Kobe was his one and only.

“Right now, to protect her sanity and well-being, she’s just trying to lay low as much as she can.”

Another source added, “Vanessa’s main focus is always girls.”
