‘The Dating Game’ Reboot: Celebrity Edition Commissioned From ABC

ABC will play the matchmaker again – this time with the stars – by means of a Seduction game to restart.

The Celebrity Dating Game landed an order for eight episodes Alphabet Net, with New girl Zooey Deschanel and Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bolton set to host.

In this star-studded version of the classic game show, single celebrities will serve as candidates and choose a date from a hidden panel of three singles and / or singles, based on their answers to celebrity questions. Through clues, questions and parody performances by Bolton, the panel will have the opportunity to guess the true identity of the celebrity (which viewers at home will be able to see).

Much like in the original series, a score will divide the celebrity and her suitors, but the voices of the stars will not be in disguise, an ABC representative told TVLine.

The dating game Originally aired on ABC from 1965 through 1973 with host Jim Lange, then re-syndicated several times throughout the ’70s,’ 80s, and ’90s. And although the original Seduction game was not a celebrity edition, several well-known stars appeared as contestants on the show before they rose to fame, including Burt Reynolds, Steve Martin, Farrah Fawcett and Suzanne Somers.

A premiere date for The Celebrity Dating Game will be announced later this year. What do you think of this new take on the series?
