* Spoilers obviously to come. Again, this is your warning *
Okay, let me start off by saying that you appreciate everyone interacting during this season of The Challenge. I know it’s a niche but we all love the show and hate Fessy. It’s good to have a crew together again. I’ll be blogging Challenge All-Stars every Friday and everything in the entertainment world going forward as well. We’ll also try to do audio stuff if needed, whether it’s on Twitter spaces or whatever. Let’s get into the final.
The worst finale in the history of the show
I can’t understand how stupid that was. I need to find a way to break it down further, but I need to let off some steam. I know I know. Each season they try to find a way to make the finale different. We don’t need anything outside of a single event, team event, or duos. Pretty simple here. All the twists and turns, all the bullshit just ruined it. It made the whole finale worthless. The last 1.5 episodes were unnecessary. It didn’t matter. I will dwell on it more.
Nelson does not know the shapes
Obviously we start the day with the orange team against the purple team. A team is loaded. A team has CT, Devin, Emy and Tori. The other team has Nelson, Kyle, Nany and Kaycee. So one of the parts of the finale was to transport this missile and then solve a puzzle that had to move a few more missiles to get three squares. Nelson wanted to make a triangle. Why? Thought of the big brain.
Needless to say, it didn’t work. If you have to make three squares, never try to make a rectangle or a triangle. It is not the goal.
This was clearly going to happen when they teased him last week. Whichever team finished last after day one would face each other in a knockout. So we have Nelson against Kyle and Nany against Kaycee. I love it. Give me people who are dating and have to take out the other person in a final. I thought Nany was going to lie down and eliminate herself without really competing. Poor Nelson. Dude can’t win. Kyle smoked it quite easily on elimination.
The thing that ruined it all
So after elimination we get the twist. We’re going to do duets, but Kaycee chooses her partner, just like Kyle. What the fuck is this? So the whole orange and purple team didn’t want to say anything? The finale was basically that last part. Kaycee gets the biggest advantage (CT) just because she finished last. Fuck that.
The stupid finale
And now the stupid finale was all about climbing a mountain, memorizing a 20-digit code, rolling down the hill, and hitting it. Wow! Good work! The days when I had to eat filthy shit, stand on a tree stump overnight in freezing weather, have to run for miles, I miss all of that. Can we come back to this? I don’t know why we changed with all of this, but it really sucks. It’s not even pleasant to watch.
Kaycee doesn’t deserve a title
Good inherited chat time. Kaycee doesn’t deserve a title next to her name. She was in last place for 90% of the final and went on to win a checkpoint. It is not a title. That’s Mickey Mouse bullshit.
The legacy of CT
CT obtains its fifth title and the first in a row. It is clear that he is the 2nd best candidate in the history of the show behind Bananas. I really wish we could bring the big names together for a season so we could see this revamped TC that keeps its cool and doesn’t hit people. Let me see what he would do now rather than just be the intimidating TC back then. The man just knows how to run a final. It took him forever to secure his first title, which is why he probably won’t overtake Bananas, but what makes him dominant has emerged. He is good at puzzles. He’s not necessarily a great runner but he knows how to go fast and run in a final. Physical? No problem. He’s the best thing in the series.
Not really shocking that CT and Kaycee decided to split the money. CT has worked with Devin and Emy all season. The real question would be whether they shared with Tori and Kyle. But CT has a soft spot now and with Kyle having a kid on the way, he’s decided to share. I felt good giving each team $ 100,000 while CT and Kaycee walked away with $ 400,000 each. Not a bad payday.
