I’m preparing an app to get back into the dating game

Alone this Christmas? If you’re looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend to keep you warm and buy you presents, that sounds like a plan, Stan.

It seems virtually impossible to date this year during the pandemic. Is a socially distant hug going to become a thing?

I’ve spoken to so many singles who needed a good… hug, and I feel their pain.

The invention of the dating app may have been created with this year in mind, but how do we manage our expectations and actually find something substantial and really go the distance?

Forget your profile picture which is 10 years old and we all know how far editing apps go. It’s all about organic. I have to admit that I may have recently quit, mocked and then turned one of my good friend’s dating app bios much to his dismay.

All done with good faith and love. I won’t name names, Stacey!

His original biography felt like a novel in its own right – no kids, traveled the world, loves art (news to me) favorite food: french fries.

She will kill me.

My suggestion was, less is more. If a guy can learn all these facts about you so easily, why would he bother asking you any more questions?

The same goes the other way. Ladies, we also love a bit of mystery.

Life is long, let’s take our time getting to know each other, and let’s be honest, most people lie in their bios anyway.

I went skiing once, spent half the time in the Jagermeister tent. Hobbies: skiing.

It’s been a while since I started using a dating app, I don’t know why, because text chat Laura is fire. Jokes go through me like the good wine I usually drink.

I find you can also quickly google something the other person says you don’t quite understand.

Quick, what’s my comeback? I must look smart. You know that’s true.

Flirting can be fun behind a phone for a while, they’ll never know you’re sitting like a sweaty mess on the couch crying at Love Actually – that sounds like most December nights.

Well, I prepared to get back in the game, I better call Stace to help me write my biography.

Jesy is right to go out

Sad but expected news of Jesy Nelson leaving Little Mix this week.

I felt like something was wrong after watching his trolling documentary.

I say of course about her. Having the courage to put your health first is an inspiration to all of us, fans or not.

I know we talk a lot about mental health, but I realized that mental health and physical health are so intertwined and they influence each other so closely. Neither should be left behind.

Jesy stunned fans after announcing her exit from Little Mix after nine years in the band

Jesy and so many other celebrities are often unfairly targeted by trolls.

I know the feeling to some degree. I don’t know when it became acceptable for us to scrutinize each other’s appearance.

Things have to change in my opinion before it’s too late. Specifically, misogyny. It is rampant in pop culture and daily life.

The very figure of a woman is subject to such narrow parameters of acceptance. If you stand out, it looks like a target is placed on you.

Be Kind has never been more relevant. I look at my tattoo every day and remember the loss, hoping to raise awareness and prevent more.

Bending the rules leaves me in bad taste

I would like to see my family at Christmas but we all have different situations.

Not everyone in the UK celebrates Christmas or has relatives within the allowed travel distance.

Legally allowing a certain religion to travel and mix for five days only to then (more than likely) introduce stricter lockdown rules to overcompensate EVERYONE is just pure discrimination.

Restrictions must be based on pure science AND stop changing.

Yes, we are people with emotional needs, but this is a virus. Everyone has values, priorities, and important places to be on set dates.

The fact that this easing only comes into play for Christmas makes me understand more than ever why some people are having such a hard time respecting the decisions of our governments at the moment.

Equality is at its lowest. I don’t blame people who change the rules to suit their needs and we need to be more understanding of each other even though we don’t know the whole story.
