For its annual exhibition of books, jackets and journals, the Association of University Presses brings together outstanding examples of book design from across the academic press community, highlighting selections ranging from colorful art books to tomes scholars.
Our own University of Chicago Press titles are featured in many of the categories featured on the show, a testament to the skills of our in-house and freelance designers. Reflecting on UCP’s design program and this year’s featured books, Jill Shimabukuro, Director of Design and Production at Press, said, “The AUPresses Book, Jacket, and Journal exhibition is one of the few remaining contests that celebrate book design and typography. I’m thrilled that with this year’s selections, Chicago is continuing a legacy of design excellence that dates back to the 1960s.”
In this article, we invite you to take a look at some of these amazing book designs.
