The 74th Emmy Awards saw a slew of stars grace the event while recognizing some of the best work of the year. The night that was graced by a host of stars became iconic after big shows like Squid game and succession among others pocketed great honors.
Among other highlights of the event, SNL’s Kenan Thompson hosted it for the first time. Awards show opening monologues are often something fans look forward to given the way the hosts go after industry stars and the scandals they’ve been embroiled in lately.
Kenan Thompson makes a joke about Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life
Along with Thompson, this year’s 2022 Emmys was a fun time for him where he kicked off the show with a dance to a medley of popular TV theme songs while also alluding to the lack of diversity on those shows. “TV is all we have,” he said. “From Netflix and chill to Paramount+ and dine alone. Tonight, we come together to honor the greatest invention in human history.”
“Zendaya just turned 26, happy birthday. 26 is a weird age in Hollywood. Young enough to play a high school kid, but too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio. -Kenan Thompson 🤣pic.twitter.com/JuaeGPz2F5

The star who took it easy with his monologue given the Oscars altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith suddenly made a joke about Leonardo DiCaprio who recently made headlines for his latest breakup with Camila Morrone. While making fun of Titanic star, Thompson mentioned one of the biggest nominees of the night, Zendaya, and said, “Zendaya just turned 26 last week. 26 is a weird age in Hollywood. I mean, you’re young enough to play a high school kid, but you’re too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio.”
Not only that, the 44-year-old host didn’t give a moment at all to recover from one joke, which he stole another by referencing the famous Oscars incident that took place during the ceremony in March this year. Thompson noted how Regina Hall, who hosted this year’s Oscars, was also in the audience, saying, “Surprised she’s at another awards show, girl, you’re brave” jokingly, in what appeared to be a reference to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.
Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio who had been dating Camila Morrone for a long time is said to have separated. The duo had been together since 2017 and have made several public appearances together, including at Cannes, the Coachella music festival and more. According to E! News, it was recently revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have separated after more than four years of dating.
